For some background on Ms Velázquez and her organization The Worker Support Center (CAT

The Worker Support Center (CAT), an NGO defending the rights of employees, shut its doors permanently in the state of Puebla to the threats against its members and the lack of state government guarantees federation and to provide protection to its members.

This unveiled the Project on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (PRODECS) Network All Rights for All and the Centre PRODH organizations supporting poor people and vulnerable groups.

It was also reported that on Thursday May 31 was filed with the Attorney General's Office (PGR) the withdrawal by the disappearance and threats against defenders of human rights work, and Enrique Morales Montaño respectively Blanca Velázquez , both members of the Worker Support Center in Puebla.

"The failure to investigate the acts of violence and harassment against members and Worker Support Centre since 2010 constitute a pattern of impunity that perpetuates insecurity and the absence of guarantees that the Mexican State has the obligation to ensure that human rights defenders working in the state of Puebla and in the country, "explains a statement released by PRODECS and signed by organizations.

He explained that on May 15 this year, Enrique Morales, was arrested and held incommunicado for approximately 17 hours in which he was physically and psychologically tortured. An hour after he was released, Blanca Velazquez, received two text messages saying she was next and that she would be killed.

The CAT is a non-governmental organization founded in 2000 whose mission is to contribute to the protection and enforcement of human rights workers. In Puebla operated near Paseo Bravo but it will not make it.

Velázquez is the director of the Centro de Apoyo al Trabajador (Center for Worker Support – CAT), which was founded in 2001 by Velázquez and a few other young, female labor rights activists to promote the rights of workers in Mexico's garment and auto-parts industries in the state of Puebla. Formerly a maquila worker herself, Velázquez's work to support the rights of this primarily female workforce puts her up against powerful, often corrupt and violent actors.

Keynote speaker Baldemar Velásquez is an American labor union activist. He co-founded and is president of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee, AFL-CIO. He was named a MacArthur Fellow in 1989 and awarded the Order of the Aztec Eagle in 1994, the highest honor Mexico can bestow on a non-citizen.

A reception follows the program.

New York City, NY ( AP ) Breast Cancer Genomics using Optogenetics and Dopaminergic pathways has the investors on Wall Street singing with joy. In the coming days The Obama Administration is getting ready to announce that they are going to ask for funding for ( B.A.M Brain Activity Mapping ). Barron's Medical Journal Ask the CEO Rose Conrad of Sam Houston Biotech Software a Houston base Biotech Engineering Company, what should we make of this major announcement coming down the biotech pipeline.

Conrad Replied and said you have just asked the trillion dollar question. Brain Activity Mapping in going to be a Trillion dollar initiative that is going to change how we diagnose and treat diseases. The big news about this science is that one of the main benefactors is going to be Breast Cancer.

One of the single most horrific characteristic of breast cancer is Lymph node invasion. Lymph node invasion is one of the most powerful clinical factors in cancer prognosis. However, molecular level signatures of their correlation are remaining poorly understood. A new approach, monotonically expressed gene analysis (MEGA), to correlate transcriptional patterns of lymph node invasion related genes with clinical outcome of breast cancer patients. RESULTS Using MEGA, we scored all genes with their transcriptional patterns over progression levels of lymph node invasion from 278 non-metastatic breast cancer samples. Applied on 65 independent test data, our gene sets of top 20 scores (positive and negative correlations) showed significant associations with prognostic measures such as cancer metastasis, relapse and survival. The method showed better accuracy than conventional two class comparison methods. We could also find that expression patterns of some genes are strongly associated with stage transition of pathological T and N at specific time. Additionally, some pathways including T-cell immune response and wound healing serum response are expected to be related with cancer progression from pathway enrichment and common motif binding site analyses of the inferred gene sets. CONCLUSIONS By applying MEGA, we can find possible molecular links between lymph node invasion and cancer prognosis in human breast cancer, supported by evidences of feasible gene expression patterns and significant results of meta-analysis tests.

Optogenetics: Lighting up the brain When you electrically stimulate one part of the brain, a lot of nerve cells called neurons get hit at once. In order to understand what particular kinds of neurons do, there needs to be a way to target them separately

Dopaminergic pathways are neural pathways in the brain which transmit the neurotransmitter dopamine from one region of the brain to another.[1]

The neurons of the dopaminergic pathways have axons which run the entire length of the pathway. The neurons' soma produce the enzymes that synthesize dopamine, and they are then transmitted via the projecting axons to their synaptic destinations, where most of the dopamine is produced. Dopaminergic nerve cell bodies in such areas as the substantia nigra tend to be pigmented due to the presence of the black pigment melanin. The statement in that movie that said " Do Not Look In To The Light " is now going to say " Look in to the light. All over the tree of life, you can find organisms that use molecules to convert light into electricity for photosynthesis or photosensation

Optogenetics is a neuromodulation technique employed in behavioral neuroscience that uses a combination of techniques from optics and genetics to control the activity of individual neurons in living tissue—even within freely-moving animals—and to precisely measure the effects of those manipulations in real-time.[1] Optogenetics is known for the high spatial and temporal resolutions that it provides, which allow for observation of individual neurons over a timecourse of milliseconds, but is primarily famous for its ability to precisely alter the activity of specific brain areas without directly affecting a subject's behavior.

One example is single-celled algae, which has a small eye spot -- a brown sphere -- that senses light, prompting hairlike structures called flagella to move and making the plant effectively swim. What if you could take a small piece of DNA from the algae and transplant it into a neuron so the neuron now produces a light-sensitive protein (and installs it on the cell's surface)? Then, Boyden and colleagues reasoned, you would have a neuron that could be turned on or off with light Optogenetics can be combined with automatic patch clamping to identify neurons of interest and then measure their activity the data from recording so many neurons will require a huge amount of computer storage; for recording the entire brain at once

An emerging set of methods enables an experimental dialogue with biological systems composed of many interacting cell types—in particular, with neural circuits in the brain. These methods are sometimes called “optogenetic” because they use light-responsive proteins (“opto-”) encoded in DNA (“-genetic”). Optogenetic devices can be introduced into tissues or whole organisms by genetic manipulation and be expressed in anatomically or functionally defined groups of cells. Two kinds of devices perform complementary functions: Light-driven actuators control electrochemical signals, while light-emitting sensors report them. Actuators pose questions by delivering targeted perturbations; sensors (and other measurements) signal answers.

Most isolated enhancers yield expression patterns that match behaviorally or physiologically relevant subsets of neurons only approximately; coverage is often insufficiently inclusive, inadequately exclusive, or both. This is not surprising: Cell identities are thought to be specified combinatorially, by using a regulatory syntax understood only incompletely. We know, for instance, a genetic label for “dopaminergic” in invertebrates; it is “a cell in which the tyrosine hydroxylase gene is turned on.” Exploiting this knowledge (and randomly some of the influence exerted on transgene expression by genomic context) made it possible to control remotely different subsets of dopaminergic neurons in the behaving fly

Dopaminergic neurons of the midbrain are the main source of dopamine (DA) in the mammalian central nervous system. Their loss is associated with one of the most prominent human neurological disorders, Parkinson's disease (PD). Dopaminergic neurons are found in a 'harsh' region of the brain, the substantia nigra pars compacta, which is DA-rich and contains both redox available neuromelanin and a high iron content. Although their numbers are few, these dopaminergic neurons play an important role in the control of multiple brain functions including voluntary movement and a broad array of behavioral processes such as mood, reward, addiction, and stres

Activation of dopamine receptors in forebrain regions, for minutes or longer, is known to be sufficient for positive reinforcement of stimuli and actions. However, the firing rate of dopamine neurons is increased for only about 200 milliseconds following natural reward events that are better than expected, a response which has been described as a “reward prediction error” (RPE). Although RPE drives reinforcement learning (RL) in computational models, it has not been possible to directly test whether the transient dopamine signal actually drives RL. Here we have performed optical stimulation of genetically targeted ventral tegmental area (VTA) dopamine neurons expressing Channelrhodopsin-2 (ChR2) in mice. We mimicked the transient activation of dopamine neurons that occurs in response to natural reward by applying a light pulse of 200 ms in VTA

Sam Houston Biotech Inc Genomics we are creating genomic-driven commercial solutions to revolutionize many industries. We have started by focusing on energy, but we imagine a future where our science could be used to produce a variety of products, from synthetically derived vaccines to prevent human diseases to efficient cost effective ways to create clean drinking water. The world is dependent on science and we're leading the way in turning novel science into life-changing solutions. What these companies are doing is taking medicine to the next level. From Alzheimer , Breast Cancer to Diabetes they are using your genes to determined if you have one or many diseases. This Process is called Genomics. Yes we are in the genomics revaluation. We know with breast cancer up to 50 percent of the patients get chemotherapy that do not need. In stead of lumping treatment decisions in to one modis of care Doctors now can pin point to a Cure. A example of this discovery of the genes that contribute to these pathophysiologies when deregulated by recurrent aberrations is important to understanding mechanisms of cancer formation and progression and to guide improvements in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Electronic Medical Records Gennxeix is also key in a cure for breast cancer. What the fust is all about is scientist recognized something call Luminal subtypes. Luminal subtypes had the lowest overall mutation rate, but by contrast, had the largest number of genes observed to be significantly mutated. This suggests that each of the genes identified as significantly mutated in the Luminal subtypes is more likely to be important in fueling cancer progression. The Luminal subtypes are characterized by the specific expression signature of multiple so-called transcription-factor genes, including ESR1, GATA3, FOXA1, XBP1 and cMYB.

These genes have a complex interaction, cooperating in an orchestrated series of activations. GATA3 and FOXA1 are frequently mutated, but those mutations are mutually exclusive, meaning that mutations were observed in eitherGATA3 or FOXA1 but never in both. However, ERS1 and XBP1 are highly expressed but infrequently mutat. With Genomics we can separate breast cancer genes and break in to categories the different types of breast cancers. 1 Hormone receptor-positive disease, or tumors that have receptors for hormones on the surface of their cells, meaning those tumors can be treated with hormone-targeted therapy. 1 HER2-positive, referring to the over-expression of the gene HER2, a type of protein that can also be targeted. 1 "Triple-negative" disease, which lacks the hormone receptors - estrogen and progesterone - as well as the HER2 genes that are targeted by some of the newest, most successful treatments. Gennxeix discovered that some patients with HER2-positive breast cancer tended not respond to HER2-targeted therapies. Also, some patients with triple-negative breast cancers responded to therapies while others didn't. "We have been lumping things together that shouldn't be lumped together The new classifications - four types called HER2 "enriched," luminal A, luminal B and basal-like - categorize breast cancers by their genomic structure using a dizzying array of data points not previously available that have identified new pathways for the cancer to do its damage, making it possible for researchers to identify new places to target disease. What could be seen as the most promising development of this breast cancer study, researchers determined that some basal-like cancers had more in common with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer known as "serous" than with other types of breast cancer. Two other types of breast cancer, accounting for most cases of the disease, arise from the luminal cells that line milk ducts. These cancers have proteins on their surfaces that grab estrogen, fueling their growth. Just about everyone with estrogen-fueled cancer gets the same treatment. Some do well. Others do not. The genetic analysis divided luminal cancers into two distinct subtypes. The luminal A subtype had good prognoses while luminal B did not, suggesting that perhaps patients with luminal A tumors might do well with just hormonal therapy to block estrogen from spurring their cancers while luminal B patients might do better with chemotherapy in addition to hormonal therapy.

In some cases, genetic aberrations were so strongly associated with one or the other luminal subtype that they appeared to be the actual cause of the cancer. The better News is that Genomics is on the Clock. Genomics provide a faster cheaper more effective way to detect the Her2 gene by using Semiconductor Sequencing. Just When Genomic Science Is Graduating To Neuroscience Republican Dr. Ben Carson Shocks President Obama

Barron’s Medical Journal Reporting From Baltimore Maryland, USA At John Hopkins University Medical Center
Just When Genomic Science Is Graduating To Neuroscience Republican Dr. Ben Carson Shocks President Obama

Baltimore MD ( AP ) Barron’s Medical Journal is concerned the John Wayne of neurosurgery Dr. Ben Carson is running for GOP United States President , Just before President Obama announces The (B.A.M Breast Activity Mapping) project to Congress for funding. To the medical community surprise Dr. Ben Carson, longtime director of pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, announced Saturday 17, 2013 that he will retire this summer and suggested he could pursue a future in politics, An internationally renowned physician, Carson focuses on traumatic brain injuries, brain and spinal cord tumors, and neurological and congenital disorders. He was the first surgeon to separate conjoined twins.

Carson has authored more than 100 neurosurgical publications, along with three best-selling books—one, "Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story," was made into a television movie—and has been awarded 38 honorary doctorate degrees and dozens of national merit citations. Dr. Benjamin Carson is the Director of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Carson focuses on traumatic brain injuries, brain and spinal cord tumors, achondroplasia, neurological and congenital disorders, craniosynostosis, epilepsy and trigeminal neuralgia. He is also interested in maximizing the intellectual potential of every child.

Dr. Carson served as senior registrar in neurosurgery at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Queen Elizabeth II Medical Center in Western Australia. Growing up in Michigan Carson left Detroit for Yale, Carson eventually found his way to John Hopkins, where he became one of the world’s most preeminent neurosurgeons, gaining international acclaim in 1987 for performing the first separation of twins conjoined at the head. He is held as an African-American hero. Speaking at the 2013 Republican prayer breakfast, Dr. Carson finished his remarks at the prayer breakfast, the usually loquacious Vice President Biden sat next to the physician but had little to say from that point on, Carson pointed out.

The Science community is looking forward with excitement about genomic science is now going to graduate to neuroscience. Yes neuroscience, President Obama said in the State Of The Union Address For “Every dollar we invested to map the human genome returned $140 to our economy — every dollar,” he said. “Today our scientists are mapping the human brain to unlock the answers to Alzheimer’s. They’re developing drugs to regenerate damaged organs, devising new materials to make batteries 10 times more powerful. Now is not the time to gut these job-creating investments in science and innovation.”

A meeting held on Jan. 17 at the California Institute of Technology was attended by the three government agencies, as well as neuroscientists, nanoscientists and representatives from Google, Microsoft and Qualcomm. According to a summary of the meeting, it was held to determine whether computing facilities existed to capture and analyze the vast amounts of data that would come from the project. The scientists and technologists concluded that they did. The U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, recently developed a publicly accessible Internet-based collection of data which identifies a region in the brain where thousands of gene-regulating elements necessary for cognition, motor functions are emotions are found. Axel Visel, a geneticist with Berkeley Lab's Genomics Division who worked on the latter project, referred to it as "a genome-wide digital atlas of gene enhancers in the human brain."

Organizations behind the project include the Office of Science and Technology Policy, The National Institutes of Health, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the National Science Foundation, as well as several private foundations the president will allot a total of at least $3 billion over the next 10 years. Barron Medical Journal is advising The State Of Texas To reinstate the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. Texas can play important role in The Brain Activity Map Project and create millions of jobs for Texans.

Texas House and Senate budget bills provide no money for new grants by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, the target of multiple investigations following revelations of procedural problems and conflicts of interest related to multimillion-dollar grants it has awarded. Barrons Medical Journal what is at stake science can take giant step forward to cure several diseases if both President Obama and Ben Carson work together on the BAM project.

Science Is Going To Be More Profitable Than Oil And Gas With (B.A.M) Brain Activity Mapping

Barron's Medical Journal Reporting From The United States Congress Capitol Hill, Washington DC, USA
Science Is Going To Be More Profitable Than Oil And Gas With (B.A.M) Brain Activity Mapping

Washington, DC ( AP )Barron's Medical Journal in Washington DC getting ready for the announcement from President Obama Administration to ask Congress for funding to map the human brain. B.A.M Brain Activity Mapping will do for Neuroscience what the Human Genome Project has done for genetics. For every dollar The Federal Government has invested in the Human Genome Project, The American People has received a return on investment of Two Hundred and Forty Dollars.

Our brain is vast on a cosmic scale. Billions upon billions of neurons communicate with one another via trillions of connections, giving rise to what amounts to a network of networks. Widely adopted (but by no means universally accepted) theories posit that these neural networks are the wellsprings of such complex processes as perception and action.Neuro Scientists believe that a detailed BAM Brain Activity Mapping reveals valuable information about these and other cognitive functions, and perhaps human consciousness.

The Obama Administration has sought in planning a ten-year, multi-billion dollarproject. Everything that we are, our whole mental world, amounts to nothing more than neural circuits firing [in patterns] throughout the brain. By mapping circuit activity, researchers can "discover patterns that are the physical representation and origin of mental states — of thoughts, for example, or memories."

There are one million gigabytes in a petabyte. The Large Hadron Collider in Geneva generates about 10 petabytes of data annually. If the brain contains between 85 and 100 billion neurons, that means that the complete brain generates about 300,000 petabytes of data each year.

Brought To You By Orange Shoe Personal Fitness Video: Ann Parson Newman Fitness Professional and Owner Of Orange Shoe Fitness says " Cardiovascular fitness is thought to offset declines in cognitive performance, but little is known about the cortical mechanisms that underlie these changes in humans. Research using animal models shows that aerobic training increases cortical capillary supplies, the number of synaptic connections, and the development of new neurons. The end result is a brain that is more efficient, plastic, and adaptive, which translates into better performance in aging animals. Here, in two separate experiments, we demonstrate for the first time to our knowledge, in humans that increases in cardiovascular fitness results in increased functioning of key aspects of the attentional network of the brain during a cognitively challenging task."

A "static" model — a wiring diagram that charts how neurons connect with one another. A "functional" model, can go much further, by allowing researchers to see not just the connections between the tens of billions of neurons that comprise a human brain, but the individual action of every cell in a given neural circuit. George Church, a molecular geneticist at Harvard University, says the difference between knowing the spatial distribution of a city's telephone wires and knowing where, when, and how those wires are transmitting messages. (An early architect and longtime ambassador of the Human Genome Project, Church has been tapped to work on the BAM project, and is a co-author on last year's white paper.)

A technological revolution in the field of neuroscience. It is currently possible to insert electrodes into the brain that can both monitor and induce brain activity. But the resolution offered by these and less invasive techniques is poor. That means the first step toward a BAM will be to develop tools that can actually record the individual activity of every neuron in a brain circuit. The second step will be to create tools that can influence the activity of individual neurons.

BAM "is essentially a technical development project," aimed at devising techniques that can both measure and stimulate neurons with exquisite spacial specificity. Development and implementation of these tools would, of course, begin on smaller organisms and mice. Specific brain regions, progressing toward the ultimate goal of plotting the real-time activity of the neurons and networks in an entire human brain. "every single tool or technique [developed] will be immediately be released for the entire neuroscience community."

Launching the Human Genome Project and conducting it in a centralized fashion was that researchers were already searching for disease genes and sequencing the genome in piecemeal. It was going to get done one way or the other, but it was going to happen in thousands of little bits at a time — highly inefficient from the standpoint of time and money. Centralizing the process through the Human Genome Project dramatically reduced costs while accelerating the mapping process toward a certain goal with definitive applications.

The potential for financial return will be more economically powerful than Human Genome Project. We learned from the HGP experience that technology should be done as early as possible," says Church, noting that he price of genome sequencing may have been brought down a million-fold, but only after the HGP project was over. "If you mix technology development and applications from the beginning, I think you wind up with a more cost effective, and relevant project. Those are things that we're going to do differently this time around." "Humans are nothing but our brains. The potential applications for technology produced in pursuit of a map of human brain activity. "Our whole culture, our personality, our minds, are a result of activity in the brain. New medical technologies like brain-computer interfaces for cochlear, epilepsy, spinal injury and retinal implants. These devices will improve, and at an enormous benefit to the economy.

It is clear to Barron's Medical Journal we are not going to connect Genomics with Brain Activity Mapping and open up the door for young STEM Students to have promising careers for years to come. Brain Activity Mapping is the next thing in science Says Sam Houston Biotech Center.

President Clinton And Tony Blair Investment In Genomic Science Has Paid Off For The United States and Great Brittan

Houston ( AP ) On June 26, 2000 ---- PRESIDENT CLINTON ANNOUNCES THE COMPLETION OF THE FIRST SURVEY OF THE ENTIRE HUMAN GENOME with Public and Private Efforts to join forces. This was A historic White House event, with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, President Clinton announced that the international Human Genome Project and Celera Genomics Corporation have both completed an initial sequencing of the human genome -- the genetic blueprint for human beings. President Obama Said In The State of the Union --” Tonight, thanks to .... Every dollar we invested to map the human genome returned $140 to our economy -- every dollar" Genomics is The Key To A Breast Cancer Cure: Brought To You By 43RD Restaurant Thirteen years later in Houston, Texas as a group of investors are looking to open " The Sam Houston Biotech Center". Barrons's Medical Journal decided to look at what is now going on with some of the achievement in Genomic Science.

Breast Cancer is the number one beneficary from the efforts of President Clinton and Prime Minster Blair. Scientist and Researchers now know that a 21-Gene RT-PCR Assay in Lymph-Node"Negative, Estrogen-Receptor"Positive in Early-Stage Breast Cancer Patients, at 40 years of age will almost be guaranteed that a breast cancer patient will live to the age of sixty cancer free.Genomics is the main reasons for the reduction of unnecessary chemotherapy.Let's take a look at the Numbers Brought To You By Orange Shoe Personal Fitness Video:

Brought To You By gloStream

Patients receiving the assay were predicted to gain 0.127 QALY and save $4359 annually from avoiding chemotherapy, adverse events, supportive care, and secondary primary tumors. For a 2-million member plan, net gains were 4.44 QALYs/year and savings were $13,476/year. Cost savings were greater for the Medicare population. Although overall results were sensitive only to reduced impact of testing and chemotherapy costs, they were still highly cost-effective (incremental cost-effectiveness ratio <$20,000/QALY).

Use of a 21-gene assay in patients with early-stage N (1-3)/ER HER2-negative breast cancer may improve health outcomes and add no incremental cost, thereby providing valuable insight for health plans, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and clinicians regarding coverage policies and treatment decisions.

In summary, the recurrence score for predicting risk of distant recurrence from LN-, ER+ ESBC was shown prospectively to more accurately forecast outcomes than existing guidelines. The recurrence score, derived from a 21-gene RT-PCR assay—one of the first commercially available genomic assays—shows potential to align adjuvant chemotherapy decisions more closely with risk, thereby improving quality-adjusted survival and providing more efficient use of resources for managing breast cancer. The results of this analysis should help in developing guidelines to assure optimal and efficient use of the assay. Genomics is also helpful for the eyes

An international group of researchers has discovered seven new regions of the human genome — called loci — that are associated with increased risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of blindness. The AMD Gene Consortium, a network of international investigators representing 18 research groups, also confirmed 12 loci identified in previous studies. The findings are reported online today in the journal Nature Genetics. Supported by the National Eye Institute (NEI), a part of the National Institutes of Health, the study represents the most comprehensive genome-wide analysis of genetic variations associated with AMD. “This compelling analysis by the AMD Gene Consortium demonstrates the enormous value of effective collaboration,” said NEI Director Paul A. Sieving, M.D., Ph.D. “Combining data from multiple studies, this international effort provides insight into the molecular basis of AMD, which will help researchers search for causes of the disease and will inform future development of new diagnostic and treatment strategies.” AMD affects the macula, a region of the retina responsible for central vision. The retina is the layer of light-sensitive tissue in the back of the eye that houses rod and cone photoreceptor cells. Compared with the rest of the retina, the macula is especially dense with cone photoreceptors and is what humans rely on for tasks that require sharp vision, such as reading, driving, and recognizing faces. As AMD progresses, such tasks become more difficult and eventually impossible. Some kinds of AMD are treatable if detected early, but no cure exists. An estimated 2 million Americans have AMD.

Scientists have shown that age, diet, and smoking influence a person’s risk of developing AMD. Genetics also plays a strong role. AMD often runs in families and is more common among certain ethnicities, such as people of Asian or European descent. Ann Arbor SPARK established the Michigan Life Science Innovation Center (MLSIC) in 2008, the region's first collaborative life sciences incubator. Since its opening, MLSIC has incubated 15 companies, which have created 92 jobs and attracted more than $75 million in investment in southeast Michigan.

November, 2012, Ann Arbor SPARK transferred ownership of the Michigan Life Science and Innovation Center to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and laid a solid foundation for the MEDC to follow as it assumes ownership of the facility. MEDC will continue to support life science companies through business acceleration and attraction.

Ann Arbor SPARK's focus is on its regional incubator network and opportunities to collaborate with other private incubators within Washtenaw County, as well as with the University of Michigan's Venture Accelerator. Ann Arbor SPARK strongly supports efforts to support life science and biotech companies in the region and will continue to offer programs with the state and other partners, including U-M and MichBio, that support entrepreneurs.
