Immediately following, the spectacular fireworks extravaganza fills the Houston skies in a grand finale. The Hilton Houston Post Oak adds to the holiday cheer with its Annual Balcony Decorating Contest. Families participate in this competition year after year with creative holiday decorations, including lights and holiday garlands. A team of local celebrity judges will select the top three balconies and announce the winners before the night’s end. On The Same Day sponsored a 20 years Celebration of Thanksgiving tradition at the 2012 TXU Energy Turkey Trot benefiting Sheltering Arms Senior Services! The race will continue to take place at Dillard’s near the Galleria on Thanksgiving Day. TXU Energy Turkey Trot Milestones: 2005: Runner participation was 4,000. 2010: The TXU Energy Turkey Trot moves from its long-time start location in Uptown Park to its current location at Dillard’s by the Galleria. 2011: The TXU Energy Turkey Trot reaches a record 12,000+ participants. The most senior runner is 86 years old. The Trot becomes the third largest footrace of its kind in the Houston area. Our 2012 Grand Marshal: Olympic Bronze Medalist Marlen Esparza!
